The gentle Nockberge mountains are ideally suited for this: around 1,000 km of hiking trails, 700 km of legalised MTB routes, Europe's longest MTB Flow Country Trail including connected nature trails, Carinthia's first Mountain Yoga Trail, the Active Park at almost 2,000 m above sea level, the Kaiserburg Bob and much more.
For refreshments in between, numerous huts with regional delicacies await you. Some are over 400 years old and have many an interesting story to tell about their origins.
Swimming fun in summer
A summer day filled with watery adventures - best of all around Lake Millstätter See: whether active swimming,climbing, cycling on the 28 km long cycle circuit around Lake Millstätter See, water skiing or more relaxed strolling, walking or enjoying ice cream in one of the numerous ice cream parlours, cafés or restaurants.
Did you know that Lake Millstätter See, with a length of 11.5 kilometres and a width of 1.8 kilometres, is the second largest lake in the province? The crystal-clear, mineral-rich lake water, which is up to 27° warm, is also of drinking water quality. When the rain clouds briefly push in front of the sun, the Drautalperle, the Millstatt bathhouse or the Thermal Römerbad are available for relaxed bathing pleasure.
Skiing pleasure on the surrounding mountains.
When nature wraps the mountains in its white dress, skiers' hearts beat faster. The world mountain Mirnock is embedded in the Carinthian Nockberge and therefore the ideal starting point to explore the numerous kilometers of slopes in Upper Carinthia every day. In about 30 minutes driving time you can easily reach the most attractive slopes with runs for all age groups. The largest of these is the Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area. Here, skiing can be enjoyed immediately followed by a visit to thethermal Römerbad. Only 15 minutes drive away is the Turracher Höhe. Here you can enjoy the slopes in two federal states - Carinthia & Styria. The same applies to the Katschberg, whose slopes stretch all the way to Salzburg.
